Police have made an arrest after a man was glassed inside Jehovah’s Witness hall.

The man was struck in the face outside Kingdom Hall in Newgate, Mirfield.

Det Insp Ian Thornes, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are investigating after a man was assaulted at Kingdom Hall, Newgate, Mirfield, at around 8pm on Thursday, February 12.

“The 34-year-old victim was struck to the face with a glass bottle causing non-life threatening facial injuries.

“Members of the congregation assisted the victim and also detained a male suspect.

“On police arrival, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.”

The man has been detained.
