Since then, the band has gone on to win European championships, and has been crowned Champions of Yorkshire on several occasions.
Mr Griffiths has made the midsummer Last Night Of The Proms concert one of the band’s highlights of the year, with growing audiences showing their national pride by standing up to sing along as they wave their union flags.
Tickets for this year’s event at Batley Town Hall cost £10, or £8 for concessions. They can be purchased in advance from the town hall by calling 01924 324501, or from the band’s Birstall based publicity officer Ted Griffiths on 01924 478933.
